The development of digital twins in the Helsinki Urban Environment Division (Kymp) began in the Digital Twin agile experiments project in the fall of 2022. The goal of the project was to bring the 3D city model to the core of Kymp's operations. An introductory video outlines the project's background and objectives, as well as the framework for digital twin agile development. The project consists of Proof-of-Concept (PoC) pilot projects. By 2024, the experimentation and development of digital twins for production use have become an established activity located in the Concept Lab of the GIS Development and Digital Twins unit within City Survey Services. The GIS Center, which operates within the same unit, is responsible for data integrations and the production of 3D city model datasets. Project outcome videos are continually updated on the website.
